ATLANTA – April 25, 2019 – Integris®, a provider of IT support, strategy and services for small and medium-sized businesses and nonprofits, hosted the second of 4 “Breakfast & Learns” planned for 2019 with educational content customized for nonprofits. “How to Create A Successful Major Gift Program” was delivered by Dennis Hanthorn, a trusted nonprofit advisor and executive recruiter/principal for m/Oppenheim Associates. Dennis shared time-tested insights using the same framework he employed to help The Atlanta Opera raise $35 million over 8 years while serving as their General Director and CEO.
The complimentary “Breakfast and Learn” took place the Agape Youth & Family Center, a Integris client located on Marietta Boulevard in Atlanta’s rapidly growing West Side. Attendees included Executive Directors, Development Executives, and Board Members from Sister Love, Action Ministries, Safehouse Outreach, Junior Achievement of Georgia, Georgia Humanities, and Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Charities, Inc.
Three specific plot points were addressed:
- How to build a major gift program to maximize donor investments
- How to reach and cultivate your donors
- How to broaden your organization’s vision and mission through relationships
Hanthorn then demonstrated how each could be actualized with simple a 6-step process:
- Define a major gift for your organization
- Get your board members on board
- Identify prospective donors
- Cultivate your top prospects
- Ask for the gift
- Say thank you
Attendee response was very positive. As Kym Franklin Estis – Senior Director of Development for Junior Achievement of Georgia commented via email the following day, “Just a quick note to thank you for hosting an informative breakfast presentation and discussion on major gifts – great job. The speaker was excellent. Of course, I enjoyed seeing some familiar faces around the table as well as a few new folks!”
“Dennis is a wise executive with an easy-going personality that welcomes audience participation,” remarked Integris Solution Advisor Jed Fearon. He continued, “I am delighted he will be teaming up with us for the foreseeable future. We’re really looking forward to the next event in late July.”
