Non-technical roles at an IT company? Our team answers | Team Highlight

We asked our non-technical staff: what’s it like to work for an IT company? If you’ll recall, we asked our team last month why they chose to pursue IT. We thought we’d give our non-technical staff a chance to get in on the Q&A action, so we’d like to share some of their answers:

It’s an interesting time to work at an IT company, especially in a non-technical role. The pandemic has forced many businesses to adopt digitally, so technology is a top priority. Most employees are relying on technology now more than ever before, and with that comes technical challenges.

Being a resource for my clients, even though I’m not the technical expert, has made it easier to start conversations with prospects.

I actually have a degree in IT and worked as a Help Desk Technician in college. I was more interested in website design, so chose to follow the digital marketing path as a career.

Being able to do that for an IT company was the best of both worlds. Though I am in a marketing role, there is a ton of overlap between IT and marketing in the website development process.

Working for an IT company in a non-IT role has opened my eyes to the importance of this industry and what it provides to the marketplace. Working at an IT company has made me aware of the principles behind cybersecurity and keeping your business secure at all costs.

I may not understand technical terms or the ins-and-outs of a computer or server, but having the reliable and personable engineers who are IT hungry at Integris makes it manageable.
