Atlanta, Georgia – October 16, 2016 – Integris, a provider of IT support, strategy and services for small and medium-sized businesses and nonprofits, today announced its support of the Atlanta Humane Society by taking part in the 2016 5K Walk for the Animals on Saturday, October 16. This event, held annually, helps the Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) raise money to care for nearly 25,000 animals each year.
“Integris takes great pride in supporting such a venerable, respected organization as the Atlanta Humane Society,” said Integris President and CEO Hamish Davidson. “For more than a century, they have worked to end pet homelessness and overpopulation in the southeastern United States.”
This year’s walk, one of AHS’ largest fundraising event, started at Atlantic Station where thousands of animal lovers and their dogs walked for a worthy cause. All net proceeds will help save the lives of Atlanta’s homeless animals.
“The Atlanta community has been responsible for our success, and we are always looking for opportunities to give back to that community,” said Davidson. “The AHS walk affords us an excellent opportunity to do just that.”
About the Atlanta Humane Society
The Atlanta Humane Society (AHS) is the oldest private charitable organization in Atlanta, founded in 1873. AHS places more than 7,000 animals into forever homes each year and also operates or sponsors an AVMA-approved full-service veterinary hospital; low-cost and mobile spay/neuter services; microchipping; obedience classes; pet first aid and CPR training; a pet food bank to assist other animal rescues; a Visiting Pet program for nursing homes, hospitals, and children’s centers; and a transport team that works with rescue groups throughout the area to facilitate more adoptions statewide. The AHS’ mission is to prevent neglect, abuse, cruelty, and exploitation of animals and to assure that their interests and well-being are fully, effectively, and humanely protected by an aware and caring society.
