Windows 8After a long time, Samsung has finally come out its first windows 8 mobile phone. So far, Samsung was mostly depended only on Android for its Smartphones. With Windows 8, they are now making a big leap to capture even a bigger market.

It was the Berlin IFA show on August 29, 2012 where Samsung first displayed its first Windows Phone 8 device. It was one of the biggest events of the show and many people were excited to see the phone for the first time. Samsung has named the Smartphone ATIV S which will be made available along with other Smartphones from Samsung e.g. Galaxy and so on.

The Samsung Windows 8 phone packs some amazing features in it including a 1.5 Ghz dual-core processor and 1GB of onboard RAM. In addition to that, it also has an 8 Mega Pixel camera in the back and another 2 MP camera in the front. The customers also have the freedom to choose two different capacities either a 16 GB or a 32 GB.  Above all that, it has got an impressive battery life since it comes with a 2300 mAh Battery. However, the most impressive thing of this phone is its 4.8” HD Super AMOLED display which is made from Corning Gorilla Glass 2. Unfortunately, officials from Samsung still haven’t mentioned anything about the price of this phone.

According to Samsung, this is the beginning of an intensive line of Windows 8 mobile phones and there will be many more in near future.  With these phones, Samsung is aiming to focus the market beyond Android. However, it will certainly face intense competition as Nokia, Microsoft and other mobile makers are also concentrating on this. With the Nokia Lumia releasing in the same time with ATIV S, people can certainly expect a big showdown between the two giants in the month of September.

However, it will be the loyal Samsung customers who will be benefited from this. Now the clients with issues on Android will have the options to choose a phone with a different OS from the same maker. However, it is too early to predict the acceptability and success of ATIV S at this point of time.
