Welcome back to our Team Highlight! Today, meet Ray from Integris’ office in Austin, Texas.
Could you describe your role/what you do in 2-3 sentences?
I am the team lead for Integris Austin’s Professional Services department. My team and I provide project discovery, scoping, and implementation for clients. We also assist the sales team with their prospects by doing pre-sales technical assessments and sales engineering. Lastly, we are an escalation point for the service desk.
How did you become interested in technology/IT as a career?
It started out as a hobby when I was 15 and I found that I had the knack for it. I tinkered with a Tandy PC my parents bought for me at Radio Shack. I taught myself programming and actually competed in high school. I realized I didn’t want to be a programmer so I transitioned to system administration after I left the Navy.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
Fixing or implementing something that’s technically challenging and mentoring my teammates.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing? What are some of your hobbies?
Doing health and fitness stuff and hanging out with my family.
Your favorite movie?
Fifth Element. I can’t not watch it if I see it pop up.
What are some things you love about the place you currently live?
It’s brand new so it’s got the new house smell.
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
Early owl.
Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
Almost retired.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
You are replaceable at work but not at home.
If you could have a superpower, what would you want and why?
Immortality because there’s so much cool, future stuff I’m going to miss out on.
